FAHSI College Scholarship Program

The FAHSI College Scholarship Program was established to encourage Filipino and Filipino American youth to pursue higher education and have a positive impact in the community. The first scholarship award, entitled the Frederick and Demi Seguritan Scholarship, is now being offered for the 2008-2009 academic term. Over the next 5 years, a scholar will be chosen annually, and each recipient will receive a renewable $5,000 award per academic year for a maximum award of $20,000 over four years. The Frederick and Demi Seguritan Scholarship of $5,000 is awarded to one Filipino/Filipino American graduating high school senior who demonstrates a passion for business and service to the Filipino community. In addition to the scholarship award, its recipient will also have the opportunity to receive mentoring from Frederick and Demi Seguritan, FAHSI staff, and members of the FAHSI Board of Directors during the his/her matriculation at college. To be eligible for this scholarship award, the student must be able to demonstrate that he/she:

• Is of Filipino heritage
• Has a passion for business (you are not required to pursue a business degree)
• Has good academic standing in high school
• Has applied for admission to a 4-year college as a full-time student
• Is active in the Fil-Am community (i.e.member of a high-school Filipino club or Filipino organization youth program)
• Can demonstrate financial need
