TWO PAID POSITIONS AVAILABLE: AmeriCorps*VISTA Members
The Filipino American Human Services, Inc. (FAHSI) is seeking two (2) AmeriCorps* VISTA Members to join our team from August 2008 to July 2009. The responsibilities of each position are as follows:
• Volunteer Coordinator: Recruit, interview and assign appropriate tasks to new volunteers. Collaborate with Outreach Coordinator in promoting volunteer opportunities at FAHSI. Supervise volunteers. Update Volunteer Page on FAHSI’s website. Develop and maintain volunteer database. Establish a Corporate Volunteer Program. Organize volunteer appreciation events. Maintain communication with current volunteers via email and FAHSI newsletter. Participate in community festivals and events to promote FAHSI’s volunteer opportunities.
• Fundraising Associate: Assist Executive Director (ED) in overseeing fundraising events and identifying funding resources. Research, cultivate, and develop relationships with foundations, corporations, government, and other funders. Assist ED in collecting documents needed to complete grant applications. Work with the Treasurer and Bookkeeper in tracking revenue from funding sources. Create and update funder database. Develop individual donor cultivation strategies.
Requirements: Each position has its own specific requirements, but recommended skills and qualifications include:
• High school diploma required. Associate or bachelor degree preferred.
• Ability to make a full-year, full-time commitment. Cannot hold another job or be a student.
• Commitment to FAHSI’s mission and to serving the Filipino immigrant and Filipino American communities.
• Excellent speaking, writing, presentation, and critical analysis skills.
• Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and work independently and on multiple tasks under pressure.
• Ability to work with diverse teams and collaborate with FAHSI staff and community partners.
• Proficiency in PC, MS Office, email, and internet.
• Experience preferred in the position you are applying for (either fundraising or volunteer management).
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Benefits
