Internships for the 2011-2012 Academic School year
The Filipino American Human Services, Inc. (FAHSI) is a private, non-profit organization established in 1993 to help meet the human service needs of the Filipino American communities in theNew Yorkmetropolitan and Tri-state areas. The FAHSI student intern will be actively engaged in all aspects of program planning and general operations of the organization. The intern is required to complete a minimum of 10 hours per week. The goal of the FAHSI Intern Program is to provide students with opportunities to gain skills and knowledge in the maintenance and operation of non-profit organizations. Interns are eligible to receive credit through their respective degree program or department. They will also have the opportunity to attend public workshops and seminars that are related to their academic interests.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Office Maintenance
- Answering phones
- Filing paperwork
- Updating databases
- Mailing, copying, sorting, faxing,
Programming
- Assisting in workshops
- Assisting in outreach events
- Assisting program development and special events, as needed
SUPERVISION:
- Attend Staff meetings
- Supervision 3-4 times per month
- Weekly Reports with updates on your project(s)/tasks
- Commit to a regular weekly schedule
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled at a college or university with good academic standing.
- Be able to work both independently and as a team player.
- Be proactive and take initiative.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Have a desire to learn.
- Ability to lead and supervise large groups.
- Knowledgeable in basic office maintenance such as answering phones, filing, copying, faxing and computer basics.
- Availability: minimum 10 hours per week.
